Agenda:
When narratives shape opinion

In a world where information flows endlessly, it is not just facts that shape the perception of information, but the narratives built around them. The way one frames their story across multiple newsrooms, digital platforms, and political discourse, determines how that story is perceived. Under the agenda ‘When narratives shape opinions’ the International Press Corps invites delegates to take a closer look at the forces that influence global narratives, from the falsehoods of media biases and misinformation to the crucial role of emerging technologies in shaping public thought. As information exchange becomes more rapid than ever, the responsibility of journalism becomes increasingly complex. The delegates must learn to balance speed with accuracy and influence opinions with integrity. Through profound and deliberate coverage, analysis, and observation, reporters will reflect the evolving relationship between narrative and perception, ultimately questioning: as narratives increasingly influence public perception, how can journalism remain objective, responsible, and credible?

Darsh Sitlani & Hiya Panchamia

Editors-in-Chief, IPC

We, Darsh Sitlani and Hiya Panchamia, are incredibly honoured to serve as the Editor-in-chiefs for the International Press Corps at this year’s Emerald Heights Model UN 2026. I am Darsh, a 12th grader with a keen interest in graphic designing and a passion for business and economics, and I am Hiya Panchamia, a 12th grader with a profound passion for creativity. I intend to pursue a career in digital marketing and filmmaking. We look forward to making this experience memorable and rewarding for all of you.

This year, the IPC will place emphasis on how narratives shape opinion and influence perception. It will examine the language, tone, and intent behind discussions, while identifying bias and questioning dominant viewpoints. The IPC will also observe how narratives shift across committees, how perspectives develop during debate, and how certain ideas come to hold greater influence. It will aim to present clear and balanced accounts that not only report events, but also place them in the right context, ensuring coverage that remains accurate, responsible, and grounded in integrity.
