On 21st May, 1991, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, changing India forever. The May Emergency Cabinet of 1991 is a fictional historic crisis committee established under extraordinary circumstances as the nation faces an immense degree of political, social, and security pressure following the assassination. Due to the assassination, there is not only a sudden gap in national leadership but also widespread public unrest and urgent concerns on the matter of national security and strength of political institutions. The committee must urgently address risks of further violence and other threats to public harmony. Furthermore, the committee must act in order to investigate the assassination and manage both domestic, as well as international ramifications and prevent further disruption. While navigating through this juncture, the committee must restore stability, find answers to the assassination and safeguard the faith of the people in the democratic values and sovereignty of the nation.

As an event that shook the entire political landscape of India and Sri Lanka for years, the tragedy needs to be handled with patience, strategic thinking, and quick decision-making. Members of the Cabinet have to deal with the vast geopolitical, social, and political implications of the assassination, while engaging with a series of tumultuous crisis updates. The Cabinet is designed to bring members from various backgrounds and political affiliations together to find the perpetrators, punish them, and deliberate upon further action.
